Mineral imbalances in Alzheimer’s brains. Wenstrup, Brain Res, 533(1):125-31, 1990
Details
Analysis of the brains of Alzheimer’s patients’ post-mortem showed elevated levels of mercury and lower levels of zinc and selenium. This may be significant because zinc and selenium are the minerals that protect against mercury toxicity suggesting they are utilised to detoxify mercury in the brain.
