Becoming a legacy donor and leaving a gift in your will is one way to ensure that our important ‘action’ research continues, and our message and tools are spread far and wide to prevent unnecessary suffering. If anyone you know has suffered and died from the terrible disease or consequences of dementia, your legacy gift will help us make sure this happens to as few people as possible, including you and your family. Also, if you have a family member right now on the slippery slope of dementia, perhaps they would consider making a donation in their will?
Discover how your brain is like a pearl waiting to be nurtured and unlocked.
Read our article “Your Brain is OurOyster” to understand this powerful analogy and see how leaving a gift in your will can help future generations protect their most precious asset—their brain. Your legacy can provide the support needed to turn knowledge into action, fostering lifelong cognitive health and resilience.
While our signature Cognitive Function Test – the first free, validated, comprehensive test of its kind – and personalised interactive COGNITION programme for adults (COGNITION for Smart Kids in development for launch in 2025) are the public-facing part of our work, behind the scenes we are funding ongoing research, headed by our Principal Investigator Assistant Professor Tommy Wood from the University of Washington, not only into ‘what’ combination of preventative risk factors keep cognitive abilities intact, but ‘‘how’ to encourage as many people as possible to make those changes. Our Applied Behaviour Change team, headed by Dr Kristina Curtis, has one goal – to discover what motivates and supports people in hardwiring brain-friendly habits. Watch this film here to find out more.
The shocking truth is that we have been unable to find a single dementia-related charity who is spending even 5% of raised funds on actual diet and lifestyle prevention. We, on the other hand, spend 95% of our raised funds on helping to prevent avoidable brain disorders such as dementia, but also preventing problems in children.
Big or small, your gift will make a real difference. Leaving just 1% to Food For the Brain means your loved ones still receive 99%. Remember, less than 1% of Alzheimer’s is in the genes, which means that, for most of us, it is entirely avoidable. We know how. We just need your support to educate and motivate people before it is too late.
