Future Integration

Primary Care and GP Records

Food for the Brain is currently capitalising on integrating GP records for comprehensive health insights. In contrast, the UK Biobank relies heavily on hospital and death records. As Professor Naomi Allan, Chief Scientist, highlighted, 43% of dementia cases are held on GP records. By looking towards including GP data in our database, we will provide a unique, robust research platform, the key to taking our database to the next level.

Smart Kids and Teens

Later this year, Food for the Brain will launch our research platform into the long-term impact of nutrition on cognitive health from early childhood through adolescence through to adulthood. Adopting a whole-life research approach entails longitudinally tracking individuals across different developmental stages to capture the dynamic interplay between nutrition, cognitive development, and ageing. With the UK Biobank primarily focusing on adults 40-69, our new initiative will prove key in providing this early life data. This will be pivotal in the provision of longitudinal research data.

Behavioural Factors in Nutrition

Sustainable behaviour change lies at the core of long-lasting health and optimal cognitive function. This is why Food for the Brain is delving deeply into this critical aspect. It operates under the expert guidance of Dr Kristina Curtis, who brings invaluable insights into how behavioural dynamics can be harnessed to foster enduring dietary habits.
